Simply put, Contrastr facilitates comparisons of anything. Understandably, the most common items would be consumer items, such as digital cameras or other electronics often purchased online.
It works like this: Any person may submit/enter a new item into the site and assign it properties. For example, megapixels, dimensions, and digital/optical zoom of a digital camera.
When someone chooses to compare that camera with another, it takes all the mutual properties and places them side-by-side for easy comparison. Properties exclusive to one or the other are displayed at the bottom.
Images that have been associated with an item are also available for display in a gallery.
Because of the possibility of false information, at the bottom of an items list of properties, there is a link titles “Verify.” This presents the user with a wiki-like discussion page where properties of an item may be disputed or verified with links to manufactor/vendor websites. This process could either be entirely controlled in the wiki style by the community, or by Contrastr moderators of some type.
When items are entered, the are put into certain predefined categories. Tags could also be implemented for further control.
